Summary of the 1/07 newsletter

The evolutionen newsletter is only available in German. You will find here brief summaries of the current contents. Please consult the newsletter archive for older summaries!

Outlook for 2007:
What will our newsletter hold in store for you in the next few months? As ever, a contribution towards greater management awareness. In 2007 the central theme will encompass the subject of “flux with reality”. In other words: It is not a matter of “flux for better or for worse” but of careful and, precisely for that reason, entrepreneurially successful processes which can instil enthusiasm into people within and outside the company. How can this succeed? This we wish to demonstrate, assist and accompany - in interviews, through coaching instruments and from the post heroic standpoint.

The topics in the first newsletter:

  • People: interview with Thomas Tress, Commercial Manager at Borussia Dortmund.
An auditor in the field of professional football

  • Coaching instruments: the ideal job.
    Conspiracy and allies

  • Post-heroic managers and change management.
Focusing on opportunities rather than risks

  1. Thomas Tress had been employed as an auditor for a number of years and was a partner in a large Düsseldorf auditing firm when, in 2005, he was required to audit a concept submitted by leading Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund. This consulting commission became a restructuring concept which, in turn, evolved into the task of juggling the financial fortunes of the club in the capacity of commercial manager. He thus moved from the consulting to the operational business sector. Thomas Tress explains in this interview how this happened and what considerations were his guiding factors.

  2. Who is not guilty of dreaming of their ideal job, a job which is really fulfilling? Chuck Spezzano has developed a process which reveals the subconscious and unconscious reasons why we do not currently have this wonderful job. To this end we must accept that even our unloved job does have its good points – in the same way that a bout of influenza gives us an apparently much needed break, our less than attractive current job also has its advantages. Risk a look behind the scenes and answer ten questions.

  3. Peter Drucker has already made it abundantly clear why it makes little sense for an entrepreneur or a top manager to focus on risks and that, in his view, managing opportunities must be the order of the day. How this is depicted from the post heroic standpoint is explained in the third and final newsletter item.
